One of the FMP ideas I had was to create a website in which amateur filmmakers can share and publish there own short movies. Users would be able leave comments and feedback to the creators in order to help them or give praise. Users would be able to create accounts and pages in which all there work would be, The page could be used as an e-portfolio for users.
Sites such as Youtube already allow users to do this but because the site receives over 300 hours worth of videos per minute. This would mean that it would be very easy for amateur filmmakers movies to get lost in the crowd – especially the smaller channels. By creating a platform that is solely for publishing filmmakers work, in doing so this would hopefully be able to get there work noticed more easily; as well as to allow for feedback from other members in the community/
Due to me not having any coding experience, I would have to reply on other websites that allow you to create your own website such as wordpress or WIX. Although these sites allow you to create and design the website for free, they do in fact have subscription plans that allow you to register the domain name .
This is a graph for the premium prices for wix. I have yet to come up with a budget on how much I would be willing to spend on the site. I would most probably choose the £2.55 option, mainly due to the price but also it includes all the features I would need such as the bigger storage and free hosting.
This is the premium prices for creating a domain on WordPress. Compared to Wix the price is a lot more expensive than I would be willing to pay, seeing as I would only really want to keep the site live for a couple of months. WordPress does there subscriptions on a yearly bases which in turn makes it more expensive for me. The ‘Business’ subscription seems most appealing in terms of the features, especially the unlimited space and unlimited videos; seeing as my site will feature majority videos of varying length and memory size.
I have yet to come up with a domain name or an exact layout for the site. I will update when I do. Although these sites usually have preset themes and layouts in which users can use, in actuality I would much rather design my own in order to make it stand out among the crowd.
